With the nationwide lockdown in effect, roads and transport across the country have been shut down to minimise movement across borders. The closure has left hundreds of fishermen from across the country stranded in cities far away from home, with no way to go back.
With no option left, the fishermen set out in their boats across the Bay of Bengal to travel back home to Andhra Pradesh and Odisha from Tamil Nadu.
But, the fishermen got waylaid due to inclement weather in the Bay, drifting away towards the coast of Edurumondi, Andhra Pradesh.
The fishermen haven’t been allowed to step out of their boats because the villagers fear the spread of COVID-19.
