Mavayna Manav is the Menstrual Hygiene Management Ambassador for the Gramalaya & CareVanta foundation. As the state secretary for the National Women and Child Development Council, Mavayna is an unstoppable force. She firmly believes in passing the torch of self-awareness and self-love through positive and encouraging talks on female health and menstrual hygiene. Along with Suman (the lady who won the Oscar for her documentary – Period. End of sentence), Mavayna conceptualized the idea of ‘Padyatra’- world’s first and longest walk of this kind. ‘Padyatra, aims at mainstreaming the talk on menstrual hygiene among women and girls from weaker economic sections of the society. With ‘Padyatra’, Mavayna sincerely hopes that youth across the regional and lingual divides would join their mission and help remove the taboo surrounding periods, while encouraging open talks on feminine hygiene.
